Review Block by Tension Climbing 🇬🇧

Hi guys

Today i’d like to review a small piece of wood called “The Block” by Tension Board.

“Simply put, it’s a block of wood with an assortment of edges, pinches, pockets, and little crimps. Use them individually or in pairs to pick weight up off the floor, hang them from the ceiling, attach to a cable machine, pull against your own foot, combine with resistance bands… the possibilities are endless… Oh yeah, all the grips are immediately adjustable to be sloped, flat, or incut!”

This piece of wood is really amazing. As said above, you can almost do everything. I personally bought it, because I wanted something smaller than my Yubi hangboard , to be able to take it when I want and even when space is very limited. And mostly, because I wanted to train my hands and, particularly, fingers individually. I found it hard to only train 1 or 2 fingers using a hangboard. It’s possible with a pulley and a harness in order to remove weight, but it’s need more equipments and more times to be ready. Using the Block it’s very simple, and you can very quickly adjust your weight depending on your exercises. And in term I found it easier to follow my progress.

The last version also offers an 8 mm and 6 mm edge. If you are very strong, you can use both as a pinch. You also find a 25 mm 1 and 2 finger pockets and 10 and 20 mm edge. So I guess you have everything to train properly. Maybe some people will regret the absence of a 15 mm edge. But I read more and more often that it’s better to use 20 mm and increase the load instead of using a smaller edge with less weight. Otherwise, the block is very well-made, good quality, good finish. I only have it since few months, but i have no doubt that it will last for a very long time.

This little piece of wood won’t replace a handboard, but it’s a very nice addition to train single fingers and have more control on the progression of each hand. When you use both hands at the same time, if one is weaker than the other one you will compensate, and if the difference is not huge, you won’t realize it. But it’s much better to be equally strong with both hands !
